1 December 2010 - Library and Archives Canada has launched a new online database for early Ontario research: "Upper Canada Land Board (1765 - 1804)." This database includes references to minutes, reports, and correspondence regarding the allocation of crown land to new settlers.

1 December 2010 - Library and Archives Canada has announced a new online database called "Canadian Families Online." This database will eventually include indexes to several church records and private collections of information based on church records. Currently these include indexes to baptisms and marriages performed at St. Andrews Presbyterian church in Williamstown, 1779-1817; W. J. Miller's compilation of church records for Leeds County; and Kipling's collection of church records for the Red River area of Manitoba.

1 December 2010 - A new set of Ontario civil registration records are available for researching at the Archives of Ontario. Coverage now includes: Births 1869-1913, Marriages 1869-1928, and Deaths 1869-1938.

1 November 2010 - Library and Archives Canada has added a new online database for early Ontario research: "Upper Canada Land Petitions, 1763-1865." This index provides the name, date and residence for Upper Canadian settlers who wish to apply for grants or leases of Crown land.

18 September 2010 - Janice Nickerson's new book, Crime and Punishment in Upper Canada: A researcher's guide is now available from Dundurn Press and the Ontario Genealogical Society. See my Publications Page for more details.

1 April 2010 - The Archives of Ontario has moved to a new location at York University. The new facility is much larger and brighter, has brand new digital microfilm scanner/printers, and protects our documentary heritage in purpose-built archival storage conditions.
